What I’m thinking of? I’m glad you asked.

I’m thinking about the human body, these space suits we need to hang around here on Earth, and wondering if it isn’t time for a redesign. And since I’m God (which you already knew, didn’t ya, peeps), it’s down to me.

So far, I’ve been looking at two of the operating systems. First, the REPRODUCTIVE system. We’ve discussed that 3-part (simplifying a bit here) “how to grow a human”-system before – a uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries – is uncluttered, clean, beautiful. I would even go so far as to call it a stroke of genius. The only difference I’m making in humans v2.0 is I’m gonna put it in the male body, to create a better world balance. We’ll get to the how later.

The other system I’m looking at today, is the DIGESTIVE system. Now, that’s a whole different ball game, innit? This system needs a major overhaul. Just too much going on: ingesting, secreting, mixing and moving about, digesting, absorbing, excreting (grossed-out yet?). Just all that running energy in the way of food through about 8.5 metres of bowels alone, well, this is just plain bad design. Takes a huge effort to run. Outdated technology. In fact, let’s call a spade a spade: this is unintelligent design.

Now, I haven’t settled on the new blueprint here at the v2.0 lab yet, but here’s my preliminary thoughts: Enough with food as energy source already. Primitive stuff. Let’s see if we can run these space suits on a better form of energy. I’m thinking either some form of low-voltage electricity. Simply hook up to one of the thousands of Tesla charging stations around here. Wouldn’t take but a few minutes a day. (About half a smoko, for you Aussies.)

Or better yet, distilled pure energy. And before y’all get too antsy about no food: in this scenario, we can set up a version where we can eat for enjoyment; have a variant of today’s digestive system going on at the side, say – but at a much smaller scale and with the when and the where within our full control.

For the daily dreary stuff, though, I think we can find a cleaner, healthier, more efficient, better functioning system. In fact, I may set up a think tank. Maybe even announce a design competition. I’ll keep you posted.
